Field Support Manager - Drilling

Our client, an internationally renowned Drilling Contractor who strives to continually invest in leading edge technology in order to service customer requirements, is now seeking a Field Support Manager.
Summary
  • Supervise the Field Support Service group to provide technical support to the field on equipment issues, as well as the evaluation and recommendation of maintenance procedures and practices.
  • Reports the Country Asset Manager and works closely with the Rig Asset Manager and the Rig Performance Manager.
  • All Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical and ET Supervisors report direct to the Field Support Manager.
The Role

Safety
  • Participates in the Safety Training Observation Program (S.T.O.P)
  • Oversees implementation of job safety analysis and hazard assessments
  • Carries out inspections and audits according to the Quality Management System requirements

Maintenance

    Troubleshooting
  • Provide technical assistance for troubleshooting and repair of equipment directly or through subordinates.
  • Provide technical support and contact Manufacturers and Vendors as required in assisting troubleshooting
    Field Support and best practices
  • Co-ordinate the effort of the Field Support Group under his authority with Vendors and internally with the Company organization.
  • Provides direction to facilitate decisions on priorities of repairs and preventative maintenance activities
  • Review rig maintenance performance against objectives; establishes initiatives with the team to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Oversees the data quality recorded in the Preventative Maintenance System (PMS)
  • Helps and facilitates rig to keep rig drawings updated.
  • Through observations of the PMS job plans and PM schedule, propose improvements or corrections as needed.
  • Ensures through periodic checks that general maintenance, operation, and repair records and documentation are kept accurate and up-to-date.
  • Participate in the evaluation of equipment failure reports from other rigs and propose corrective action, if applicable.
  • Review audit result and track the action list as needed.
  • Review OEM bulletin and Company Alerts and track action list as needed
    On shore support:
  • Build relationships with manufacturers and suppliers and participate in facility, workshop, and service quality audits
  • Monitors repairs and rebuilds to ensure they are performed properly, safely, and economically
     Modifications:
  • Provide his technical expertise to structure the documentation required to issue an equipment modification request.
  • Coordinate the effort with 3rd party support as required to prepare the modification file.
     Inventory Management:
  • Provide assistance as needed in reviewing requisitions for spare parts, tools, and materials.
     Between well maintenance:
  • Provide his expertise in establishing the workscope of the between well maintenance (BWM).
Long term maintenance plan:
  • Provides input for the annual major maintenance plan and capital budget.
  • Provides input for the five year maintenance plan and budget
Personnel
  • Participate in training initiatives, technical training courses, and maintenance seminars.
  • Evaluate and recommend personnel assigned to rigs as maintenance personnel.
  • Ensures effective communication with Shore Management, including direct Manager as well as Rig Asset Manager and Rig Performance Manager.
  • Ensures the roles, responsibilities, authorities, accountabilities, and performance measures of direct reports are defined, understood, and enforced..
  • Develops and implements mechanisms to achieve effective communication, coordination of effort, information flow, and learning with direct reports..
  • Ensures a high level of productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction within the maintenance team.
  • Ensures effective communication with rig management and onshore personnel, in particular the Rig Asset Manager and Rig Performance Manager.
Experience required:-
  • Must have formal technical or management training, Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Professional training or equivalent professional experience
  • 5 to 10 years offshore as a Field Support Supervisor or equivalent position in the area of related equipment and system expertise
  • Offshore survival and medical certificates
  • Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, fire fighting and helicopter underwater escape
  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingual preferred i.e. English + Spanish/French/Portuguese
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Very strong leadership skills

Whilst this is a residential position, 3 weeks leave is offered every 3 months with flights.
