Summary
- The management of rig safety performance, operational performance and client relationships.
- Establish shared goals to optimise the use of Company resources.
- Responsible for the rig generating higher levels of revenue
The Role
Safety
·
- Demonstrate and promote safety leadership and commitment to the Company safety policies in accordance with the QSMS;
- Ensure that incidents causing harm or damages to personnel, the environment or equipment are properly investigated in accordance with the QSMS and that effective measures are taken to prevent any recurrence;
- Investigate all major incident or near miss with an immediate rig visit, together with either the Country General Manager or the Country Operations Manager, and the HSE Manager;
- Ensure safety inspections and audits are performed in accordance with the QSMS and applicable client and or regulatory requirements;
Operations

- Responsible for the efficient and effective execution of the terms of the client contract;
- Responsible for keeping the Country Operations Manager informed of significant operational performance, personnel and client issues;
- Drive continuous improvement culture in operations by assessing the effectiveness & efficiency of drilling operations, initiating performance improvements and sharing best practices / lessons learned;
- Responsible for reporting against operational performance KPIs;
- Review operations reporting from the rig to produce accurate and timely management reporting on all aspects of operational performance and personnel matters;
- Participate in development, review and approval of operational risk assessments;
- Coordinate with the Rig Asset Manager for the planning of major maintenance activities, shutdowns and out of service periods.
Client Relationship

- Responsible for developing and maintaining a professional relationship with the client;
- Responsible for the presentation of monthly operational performance KPIs to the client
- Responsible for reviewing and signing off on client billings and debit notes
- Responsible for keeping the client informed of significant operational performance and downtime issues and events;
- Responsible for enlisting the support of the Rig Asset Manager and or required field support personnel in the presentation of technical information on rig equipment, systems and specifications including significant equipment failure downtime events;
- Conduct post well reviews with client discussing well performance scorecard
Personnel
- Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to the Site Manager and rig based heads of department managing their efforts to maximise operational effectiveness and performance;
- Responsible for ensuring roles, responsibilities, accountabilities and performance expectations for rig personnel are communicated and understood;
- Responsible for personnel development and succession planning for rig personnel;
- Ensure that the Competency Management System is followed, that objective assessments are carried out and that rig personnel are coached, mentored and competent;
General Management
- Establish annual goals and objectives for rig operations in accordance with Company directives
- Responsible for reviewing monthly financial reports, explanation of variances and forecasting of the budget with the Rig Asset Manager and explaining items under his/her authority to the Country Operations Manager, Country Controller and General Manager;
- Keep informed of governmental rules and regulations that affect rig operations and adhere to same
Experience required:-
- Must have formal technical or management training. A Bachelor of Science in engineering or business is preferred
- Supervisory Well Control Certificate
- Offshore survival and medical certificates
- Certified in all required safety training programs, including but not limited to underwater safety, fire fighting and helicopter underwater escape
- 10+ years progressive experience of drilling operations
- Ultra deepwater drilling experience
- Knowledge of industry codes and regulations
- Man management experience
- Leadership and employee development skills, able to lead, motivate coach and mentor.
- The ability to interact in a multi-cultural environment
- Bilingual preferred i.e. English + Spanish/French/Portuguese
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
