General Manager (Head of Projects, Rigs, Shipyards)

 (Our client, internationally renowned for providing oilfield engineering services including new build construction, upgrades and refurbishment of land rigs is currently seeking a highly experienced General Manager to join their executive team.
The Role
  • Market key relationships between the Group and its markets, customers, suppliers and employees
  • Develop and execute a marketing strategy to ensure the growth of the Oilfield Engineering revenue and profit in accordance with the Company’s strategy
  • Liaise with the commercial group with reference to Oilfield Engineering proposals and participate in the estimating process and pricing discussions
  • Develop technical solutions for potential and awarded Oilfield Engineering projects.
  • Develop and manage projects executed with the API certified workshop
  • Ensure the effective and timely handover of information to facility management teams upon contract award
  • Maintain an overview of project to ensure completion in accordance and in compliance with the Company’s contractual obligations
  • Establish and manage relationships with key customers and act as interface between customers and facility management
  • In conjunction with the Group Quality Manager develop and manage API accredited services
  • Contribute to the professional development of employees with particular emphasis on direct reports
  • Development of succession plans for department managers and key personnel
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) responsibilities

Personal Attributes
  • You will be University qualified with a Technical Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 15 years experience in Onshore Construction, 5 years of which must be in a senior management role is required

  • You must possess excellent communication skills both orally and written and be able to communicate/relate on all levels from the workforce to presenting to Board level
  • You will have the ability to listen to the views of others and respond in a logical and well thought manner without the need to resort to authority
  • You will be a lateral thinker, able to define and resolve problems effectively
  • You will be thorough, focused and conscientious paying particular attention to detail
  • You will possess a resilience to work under stress
  • Physically fit, you will be able to work in extreme climatic conditions
  • You will possess great leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and team build
